The accent in Le Grind just after P asks "London what does Big Ben say?" is a bit Dick van Dyke

Maybe they will announce a show tinight at very short notice to avoid the queue issues of Wednesday night. Then again maybe there won't be a show as most people are expecting one. Expect the unexpected. As we know this is Prince so anything goes.

I was in the queue at Camden yesterday and mid afternoon we were hearing there was going to be 2 shows. A couple of hours before we went in, we were being told everyone in the queue would get in, so it was planned to do 2 shows quite early on I think.

I was also talking to guy in the queue who was friends with the manager at Ronnie Scott's...there is no way he would have queued for 5 hours at Camden if Ronnie Scott's had been planned.

Finally I really do not beleive that Prince would get turned away from Ronnie Scott's. Can you imagine the doorman refusing him entry ..... come on!

didnt he tell during the press conference earlier this week he wouldt play there...?

he waits with an announcement till monday when everyone is going to work again....

At the moment I'm very relaxed kicking back on my sofa in Southampton, checking twitter and here for the odd hint. The later it gets the less likely it is fir me to travel to London.

I'm looking forward to England vs Scotland Six Nations rugby and a nice glass of red later.

Of course all that could change in an instant... Haha!

He definitely do Ronnies but will be a turn up event maybe for a artist like he did Cassandra Wilson at Jazz Cafe. It too small be bedlam with some fanatic prince fans for a one to one show for joe public. The dining tables are right under the small stage. When one has to go the ladies you would have to pass his dressing room. The corridors are very thin and you squeeze past each other. I reckon the likes of Laura Mvula Paloma Faith and the hip friends inner circle will get to see him if they quick and maybe this manager let in a few stray dogs lol.

Just my opinion of course.
It gets so salty baby (bittersweet by Lewis Taylor)

I know what you mean, but even if they just came out and said they will be a show tonight, would keep the buzz going and the fans a little happier! Even for people like me that live up north, which this tour is a bit of a nightmare, its something where we know we will at least be able to hear/read about the show !

I'm up north aswell. Have had a bag packed for a couple of days. Was thinking of going down today on spec but my friend is a bit under the weather & not up to standing in the rain for hours. Could go down tomorrow but would mean taking Monday off and the expense for possibly no outcome. Think we will try and sit tight and wait for poss announcement.

I know, im with you on this, Im hanging back just to see how things evolve on this prince london tour first. I was going to go down today but couldnt sort travel out properly. Been following prince for quite a long time now, so used to the unpredictable nature of his ways, but i still would be surprised if theres no show tonight, or at worse tomorrow!lol

I went to the 21nights press conference gig at Koko - best Prince gig I've ever been too! Just the atmosphere in a small venue like that. Similar size to Indigo but I just preferred the layout, sound etc and his set was fab!

Would love it if he did it again, but also wonder about his comments at the press conference this week, about not looking back....

Would he repeat that, having done it before?

What were the two SquirrelMeat? I recall the one after the 21 nights, announcement but not the other.

Would love to go to the Koko myself. Indigo and Hammersmith Apollo are the closest I've ever got to a vaguely more intimate small club vibe.

Now that it's raining here in London they'll probably announce a gig for tonight so everybody has to stand in the rain for hours in order to get tickets!

Same here! Just trying to get info so I can catch my first Prince gig. I've seen so many other excellent concerts in the meantime without having to go through all this time-stealing hype, but I suppose it'll be worth it if/when it ever happens... At my 48 years I'd prefer some advance notice and a civilized on-line ticket sale. Now the sun is out again so at least there'll be no waiting in the rain.

I feel the same way. Have been lucky enough to see Prince in 1990 (Nude tour) and 1992 (Diamonds and Pearls) and also twice at the o2 but the one experience I still very much want to have is to see Prince in an aftershow or small club setting. Am soooo kicking myself that I didn't take advantage of the Indigo at the time (for various reasons). Just would love to tick this one off the list!

Was lucky to see him at the Café de Paris in 1998 - the smallest venue i've seen him at, around 700 capacity. Was a bit odd how i managed to even hear about it let alone order tickets. Still, was a great experience.

You'd be suprised, Venues are begging for him to play, Kiran just tweeted saying basically her emails have been going mad and this pic, the exposure it will bring a venue is worth kicking out a no body to let prince play.

So you're saying, his manager, who used to work in PR, has made a statement showing prime venues are desperate for him to play and has used the "Shoreditch Grand" as an example?

Hmmm, OK.

If I was an agent / promoter who had an artist who found a venue had kicked me out for what they consider a one night PR stunt I would never book them again - VERY shallow.

Stop looking at this as a Prince fan and think objectively. If they're that much in demand, why are they sitting in hotel rooms tonight ?

.

[Edited 2/7/14 13:32pm]

Probably a coincidence but Matt Everitt, the BBC reporter who went to the press conference on Tuesday has just posted that there is an interview with George Clinton at Shoreditch House at 5pm. Curious.
